ROBOTIC LAWNMOWER TERMS & CONDITIONS

Set Up and installation

The first thing is to decide what kind of robot mower best suits you.  Robot mower technology is changing all of the time and there are a few on the market now to choose from, all with their good and bad points.  You must note that a robot will cut about 90 - 95% of your garden and you WILL be required to do some strimming of edges etc.

Wired robot mowers use a boundary wire to detect the edge of your lawn, there is some time spent installing this prior to using your machine. The setup process will take a few hours, but it is quite simple. Once the setup is complete, there is very little input involved in running a robot lawn mower.  The wired robots have their pros and cons like any robot mower.  If you have moles this may cause issues when they dig up the boundary wire as this will cause breaks in the wire and sometimes if not visible from above ground will be very hard to find.  When this happens we suggest a whole new re-wire as trying to find a break can prove more expensive than a re-wire..

If you opt for the wired perimeter robot the installation will be done with a cable laying machine where possible, placing the wire approx. 40mm underground.  Please let us know if there are any buried cables or pipes near the perimeter of the lawn. Where it is not possible to lay the wire underground it will be surface mounted and pegged using plastic pegs to secure.

If you choose the wireless option (no boundary wire) please note that not all makes will cut as close to the edge due to the way they work, as any robotic lawnmower installation this does take a few hours to map out and test much.  If you have a lot of tree coverage then a wireless version may not be for you.  The unwired versions rely on getting good satellite signal so if there is tree or building coverage in the way this will not be the option for you.

Any preparation work on the lawn or paths etc needs to be carried out before installation. If the installation cannot be carried out on the day due to lack of preparation work, there will be a £100.00 charge for a return visit. DC Garden Machinery can advise on any necessary preparation before installation with a free of charge visit before purchase.

An external waterproof socket is required for the base station where the transformer can be housed.
Any electrical work needs to be carried out by a qualified electrician and not us.  We are not responsible for undertaking any electrical work.

Please ensure the lawn has been mowed, grass removed, and edges trimmed to your normal cut height just prior to the installation taking place.  The robot mower will not cope well with long grass.,

Perimeter wire is required to be laid 90cm away from any water’s edge, ponds, swimming pools etc, and sheer drops.

Wireless robots can be mapped up to a meter away from any water’s edge, ponds, swimming pools etc, and sheer drops.

Trampolines staying on the lawn need to have boards fitted to ensure the robot does not cross over the metal bars at the base and damage itself, any such damage will not be covered by warranty.

Please advise if you or your neighbour have an electric dog fence fitted as this might interfere with the mowers function.  Solar panels can also cause issues, so we try and make sure the base station is out the way of anything like this.

Robots will also not deal with narrow passages, whether wired or wireless.  We can advise any issues with your garden once we have had a look at it.
